This 2-day hands-on training course teaches the fundamentals of AutoCAD. We learn to create basic drawings through drawing and editing commands in two dimensions. Students should have a working knowledge of Windows (or the Mac OS). A background in drawing, drafting, design or graphics is helpful but not required. Each student will be assigned a computer. Bring a USB drive to take home your drawings. Follow-up learning can be done by e-mail.

Eleanor Hoffman, M.A., M.S.E.S., is a certified landscape designer and consultant. She lectures and teaches about horticulture and landscape design, writes, photographs, and leads garden tours. She gives computer training in CAD and computer graphics to landscape designers at the New York Botanical Garden and privately. Her landscape work encompasses residential, institutional, and civic projects. She brings the natural and built environments together and incorporates an understanding of ecological processes and environmental principles of the landscape into gardens. She trained at NYBG and the CUNY Graduate Program, Cornell University, Radcliffe Graduate Seminars in Landscape Design and Landscape Design History, and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Bard College, and holds degrees and certificates in botany, horticulture, landscape design, and environmental studies.
